Canada: temporary measures for Palestinians updated in 2026

On July 31, 2026, IRCC announced an extension of certain temporary measures for Palestinians affected by the crisis. The measures that may apply depend, among other things, on whether the person is in Canada, their status and their arrival date.

Two situations clarified by IRCC

IRCC states that some people already in Canada who hold an open work permit issued under earlier measures may apply for an extension. The notice also sets out measures for certain eligible people who arrive in Canada before the date specified by IRCC.
