Hire Global Talent for Your Business

We help Canadian businesses hire qualified foreign workers. Licensed guidance from job posting to the worker's arrival, with careful LMIA and compliance preparation.

Hiring in Quebec requires a two-level review

For many Quebec jobs lasting more than 30 days, the LMIA process involves both Service Canada and Quebec’s MIFI. LIMAJ helps employers identify the correct route and prepare a coherent employer and worker file without promising an approval or a fixed processing time.

Frequently Asked Questions for Employers

What is an LMIA and why do I need one?
An LMIA is an assessment completed by ESDC when an employer uses the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Some jobs and workers use an LMIA-exempt pathway instead, so the correct program must be identified before filing.
How long does the LMIA process take?
Processing and preparation times vary by stream, location, recruitment requirements and file. Employers should consult ESDC service standards and must not treat a published standard as a guaranteed decision date.
What does an LMIA cost?
ESDC fee: $1,000 CAD per worker (non-refundable). Plus consulting service fees and advertising costs. Some categories are fee-exempt (e.g., caregivers).
Can I hire a foreign worker without an LMIA?
Yes, in exempt cases: Francophone Mobility, Intra-Company Transfer (ICT), trade agreements (CUSMA/CETA), spouses of work permit holders, graduates (PGWP), and other cases.
What are my obligations as an employer after LMIA approval?
You must comply with LMIA conditions: same wage, same working conditions, keep records for 6 years, notify ESDC of changes, cooperate with inspections. Non-compliance leads to fines and bans.
What is Global Talent Stream and am I eligible?
The Global Talent Stream has Category A and Category B requirements, including a referral or an eligible occupation and a Labour Market Benefits Plan. ESDC publishes a service standard for complete eligible files, but approval and timing are not guaranteed.
What is Francophone Mobility and how can I benefit?
Francophone Mobility can allow an employer outside Quebec to hire an eligible French-speaking worker without an LMIA. The worker, job offer and destination must meet the current IRCC requirements.
What happens if I fail an inspection?
Penalties range from warnings to fines up to $100,000 per violation, and hiring bans of 1-10 years. Good preparation and ongoing compliance are essential.
