💡 Quick Summary

This article explores the latest Canadian immigration trends for 2026. Key takeaways: category-based selection, the importance of French, and regional opportunities.

On August 27, 2026, Québec’s Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) published a Programme de sélection des travailleurs qualifiés (PSTQ) invitation exercise in Arrima: 87 people were invited. An invitation allows a person to submit an application for permanent selection; it is not, by itself, a permanent residence decision.

Criteria can vary by stream

The PSTQ has four streams. For each exercise, MIFI can apply invitation criteria specific to the relevant stream and may apply additional criteria. A result from an earlier exercise cannot predict a future invitation.

What to check in Arrima

People interested in the PSTQ should keep their declaration of interest current and ensure that their work history, occupation, education and French-language information reflect their actual circumstances. Consult the official criteria in force at the time of an invitation.
